For Clinicians & HCPs

Real-world insights for tomorrow’s cardiology.

The OCORO Heart Study is helping to build a multi-dimensional, longitudinal view of cardiovascular disease. Continuous medical wearable, device, EHR, and ePRO data is brought together to help surface clinical insights for accelerating cardiovascular research.

A longitudinal window into your patient’s health.

The OCORO Heart Study is a decentralized, observational cardiovascular research study sponsored by Prolaio and led by Dr. Greg Kurio, MD. Multi-modal data capture provides a multi-dimensional view into the natural history of cardiovascular disease.

How It Works

Research that fits your patient’s life.

Your patient’s medical-grade wearables and devices collect data continuously, while they sleep, walk, cook, or rest. They don’t need to change a thing.

Why Refer

No change to treatment plan.

OCORO is observational—it does not alter your patient’s care plan, medications, or appointment schedule. You offer the opportunity and the patient decides whether the study is a fit for them. Their treatment with you continues unchanged.

What Your Patient Receives

Everything they need—delivered to their door.

Enrolled patients receive a full study kit at no cost. Setup takes about 20 minutes. From that point, everything is seamless, including the monthly participant summary report they can choose to share with you.

01

Study kit, shipped free

5 medical-grade devices and connected devices arrive at their door. No cost, no clinic visit, no prescription needed.

02

20-minute setup

Guided onboarding via the Prolaio app, backed by a registered nursing team and a dedicated customer service team available throughout the study. Support runs through us, not your staff.

03

Monthly participant summary report

Heart rate, blood pressure, HRV, activity, and sleep—in an easily digestible form your patients may choose to share with you.

STUDY DESIGN

Built on rigorous science.

OCORO is reviewed by WCG IRB and built on a platform with 7 FDA-regulated algorithms and one of the largest on-body cardiovascular data sets.

The science behind the OCORO Heart Study

IRB-approved protocol

The study is reviewed and overseen by an independent Institutional Review Board (WCG IRB). Participant protections are built into every step of the protocol.

7 FDA-regulated algorithms

Every measurement is processed through FDA-regulated algorithms. No consumer-grade inference, regulatory-grade signal analysis throughout.

HIPAA & data security

End-to-end encryption, strict access controls, and HIPAA-compliant data handling. Data is never sold or used for advertising.

About the OCORO Heart Study

Which of my patients qualify?

Patients who qualify are U.S. adults (18+) with a diagnosed cardiovascular condition who are medically stable. A smartphone or tablet is not required, we provide the device. Eligible diagnoses include cardiomyopathies (HCM, DCM), heart valve dysfunction, arrhythmias (AFib, LQTS, Brugada), heart failure (HFrEF, HFpEF, HFmrEF, NYHA I–III), and hypertension (Stage 1 or 2, resistant, on antihypertensives). Not sure if your patient qualifies? Contact our study team at heartstudy@prolaio.com or use our get in touch form, we review conditions case by case.

Will this actually help my patient?

Most enrolled patients report that the monthly participant summary report gives them a stronger sense of control and awareness between appointments. The report is designed to be shared with you, so it can inform your next conversation, surface trends you wouldn’t otherwise see, and reinforce adherence to their existing plan. It doesn’t replace your care, it supports it.

What if my patient drops out or has a problem?

If a patient drops out or runs into a problem, participants can pause or withdraw at any time with no further obligation. The study team handles all device returns, communications, and support throughout. If a device malfunctions or a patient has questions, they contact Prolaio directly, not your office. Your only involvement is the initial referral.

Will this add work to my practice?

No. After submitting the referral form, your practice has no ongoing obligations. The study team handles enrollment, device shipping, onboarding, technical support, and participant communications. You don’t receive alerts, data streams, or requests for clinical input, unless your patient chooses to share their monthly participant summary report with you.

Can I stand behind this professionally?

OCORO is IRB-approved observational research using 7 FDA-regulated devices and algorithms, not a consumer wellness app. Participation does not alter your patient’s care plan, introduces no clinical intervention, and carries no added medical risk beyond their existing condition. We’re happy to share the study protocol, IRB approval documentation, and consent forms on request.
